About the Build Up Programme

Build Up has been developed by the University of Westminster in collaboration with our partners, including the sector’s professional bodies, Construction Industry Council, business development organisations and practitioners.

Co-funded by the HEFCE ECIF Fund and the City of Westminster’s Westminster Works, the programme was launched in July 2009 and will run until the end of September 2010. It has been developed to provide built environment professionals, who have been adversely affected by the current recession, with an opportunity to reappraise their careers, network and extend their skills. Its aim is to promote inter-professional working and new ways of looking at sustainability and urban development issues.

All Build Up courses are FREE to eligible participants*.

About the Build Up Programme

The Build Up programme has been organised into three “strands” with Strand 1 incorporating networking and career assessment workshops; Strand 2 short courses that focus on a range of business and sector specific skills; and the Strand 3 selection of collaborative “live” projects focussing on interdisciplinary working, sustainability, low carbon and “green” development and community engagement.

You can book onto one Strand 1 “Career Focus” Workshop plus a maximum of three courses from the rest of the programme. This means that you can participate in three Strand 2 short courses OR one Strand 3 project and two Strand 2 short courses. Please note that you can only participate in one of the projects.

All of the courses are delivered by the University of Westminster and will take place in Central London.

*Eligibility criteria apply. Please see our Terms and conditions for further information.
